Alot: a town and a nagar panchayat in Ratlam district in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alot)
Incorrect: I passed through alot of bushes.
Correct: I passed through Alot. There were bushes.
Also Correct: I passed through a lot of bushes on my way to Alot.
What I hope you remember from today's lesson:
"A lot" is two words. (Unless referring to the nagar panchayat...in which case it should be capitalized).
You know, I had a really hard time with this in elementary school. Mom finally asked me if a little was one or two words, and I said of course it was two and she explained that since a lot is the opposite, it is also two words. I was reading an article today and they spelled it "allot" I quickly closed that tab, I was not going to site a source that did that!
Great example Aimee! I think what you said from mom was more helpful than my sarcastic post. I'll have to remember that for next time.
Mrs. Swenson didn't hack your account and post this did she?
i still like alot. . . and everyone knows what I am talking about. . . so oh well...
What's with the grammar kick?
That's hilarious! ...there were bushes... LOL!
Clever. Humor helps people remember things.
