Happy Quote

"Happiness does not depend on what happens outside of you, but on what happens inside of you. It is measured by the spirit with which you meet the problems of life."

That means we have no excuse to be unhappy, we're just weak in spirit and need to be recharged by doing things that will bring us closer to the Savior.

Not necessarily. It doesn't say that we are weak in spirit if we are unhappy. Your degree of happiness is only measured by your spirit. For most people, you are probably right. But what if the problems in life are inside you...genetically wired to be depressed? It still depends on what happens inside, right? Happiness, then, is measured by the spirit with which you deal with the problem, even if you are still unhappy/depressed. So really, you can be happy, even when your body makes you depressed just because you meet the challenge with a strong and unrelenting spirit. Don't know if that made sense...

I like that! Martha Washington said something similar that I have always liked. "I am still determined to be cheerful and to be happy in whatever situation I may be--for I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances."
